I Need to Be a Do As I Say and Do Christian, Going Through the Motions of Being Good Christians, and Christians Can't Expect a Big Pat on Their Back posts

Since Bible Passages That Can Influence Your Life, is now on line through individual posts, I am now putting several links together for each post. I found groupings of three posts worked well for anyone interested in using these for a Bible study group.  Debbie Seiling

He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not His Commandments, is a liar, and the Truth is not in him.  But whoso keepeth His Word in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in Him.  He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also so to walk, even as He walked. 1 John, Chapter 2, verses 4-6.

I need to be a “Do as I say and as I do Christian” and be more than boastful talk.  We need to be examples for others to see how God works in our lives.
Here are some related passages:
*For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the Law, till all be fulfilled.  Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least Commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.  Matthew, Chapter 5, verses 18-19.
*I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.  Blessed are they that do His Commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.  For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.  Revelation, Chapter 22, verses 13-15.

He that saith he is in the Light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.  He that loveth his brother abideth in the Light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.  But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.  1 John, Chapter 2, verses 9-11.

We can go through all the motions of being good Christians, but if we hate another human being, we aren’t walking in the Light of God.  It doesn’t matter if our hate is directed to a relative or somebody with skin, beliefs or lifestyles that are different than ours.
Hate takes up too much space in our hearts and squeezes God out.  In order to allow God to totally Light up our lives, we have to let go of our hatred and biases.  I know that isn’t always as easy as it sounds.  If we turn to God with this, He will truly take care of it, if we ask Him to.
Here are some related passages:

*Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.     1 John, Chapter 4, verse 11.
*No man hath seen God at anytime.  If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and His love is perfected in us.  Hereby know we that we dwell in Him, and He in us, because He hath given us of His Spirit.  And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.  Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.  And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us.  God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.  1 John, Chapter 4, verses 12-16.

*We love Him, because He first loved us.  If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God Whom he hath not seen?  And this Commandment have we from Him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.  1 John, Chapter 4, verses 19-21.

BEHOLD, WHAT manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not.  Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him: for we shall see Him as He is.  And every man that hath this hope in Him purifieth himself, even as He is pure.  1 John, Chapter 3, verses 1-3.

Christians can’t expect this big pat on their back and an “Atta Boy” from society for all their dedication to their faith.  The majority of society is too busy living worldly lives to focus on acknowledging people who make sacrifices because of their commitment to God.  They wouldn’t understand what is involved because they don’t know God in their lives.  Their worldly choices cloud the Light that God provides to lead them to Salvation.

Because this is an example of how I’ve applied this Bible passage to my life, it doesn't necessarily reflect the whole meaning of the passage.
